New Classes for Spring & Summer

Our carefully curated classes cover a wide range of interests and skills, ensuring that there's something for everyone. From making the perfectly-Instagrammable cheese and charcuterie board to the intricacies of grapevine wreath making, and from the delicate process of olive oil blending to the joyful craft of cookie decorating, every class is an avenue for creative expression and practical learning.

Each class not only educates but also immerses participants in the local culture and traditions. Attendees have the unique opportunity to learn directly from renowned experts in their fields – be it winemakers, chefs, bakers, or artisans.

All classes include culinary delights from Appellation co-founder and CEO, Chef Charlie Palmer, and wines from some of our favorite local wineries.

Craft Born of This Place

The products of a place and the people who make them do more to define a region than any map or guide.

That’s why Appellation weaves local people, materials, and ingredients into every part of its hotels, restaurants, and spas. Local artisans have space here to hone their craft and share their knowledge; you’ll find classes and demonstrations happening throughout your stay.

We invite you to really experience your destination: not just by seeing, but by doing. Help an expert chocolatier make chocolate and try a taste, learn how to block print from a professional designer, or get your hands dirty and create a dynamic, eye-catching moss installation to bring home.

Through these hands-on courses led by local makers, you’ll craft beautiful things, create new memories, and make new friends. You’ll come to Appellation not as an outsider, but as a part of the community.

The Local Elements

All Crafted classes reflect local elements in a multitude of ways. Materials are sourced from our surroundings, and instructors with local ties are what makes these events so unique.

For example, in our Healdsburg Harvest Terrarium class, our team created “varietal charcoals,” making these by hand from local pinot noir and cabernet vines. These charcoals, an homage to our wine country roots, were used to outfit the terrariums, creating memories tied to this particular time and place. And, of course, the class was accompanied by delicious Sonoma County wine and elevated bites made nearby.
